Uniform Leave Rules
Uniform Leave Rules
All teachers in government-aided institutions, including those at previously aided colleges, must follow these leave rules.
Leave is not an automatic entitlement and will only be granted when a teacher or principal applies with valid reasons.
If required by service demands, the authority granting leave can revoke it partially or entirely, even after approval.
Teachers who are under suspension are not allowed to take any leave.
Any teacher or principal absent without permission may face disciplinary action under the relevant university laws or regulations.
All leave requests or extensions must be submitted in writing to the Principal, or for a Principal, to the President of the Governing Body, and approval must be obtained before taking leave.
Leave requests made after the fact should be submitted promptly, especially if the authority believes prior application was not possible.
Leave begins on the day it is used and ends the day before the teacher returns; Sundays are holidays and may be added to leave, but extending leave with holidays over three days requires prior approval.
Teachers may not resume work before the approved leave period ends, unless specifically allowed by the sanctioning authority.
If a teacher misses all teaching days in a week, regardless of whether the days are consecutive, they will be considered absent for the entire week.
After resignation, retirement, or voluntary departure, no leave will be credited to the teacher’s leave account.
